Church School Distinctiveness
SIAMS - Section 48 Church School Inspection - 12th June 2024
The findings from our Church School Inspection (Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools - SIAMS) indicate that our school is living up to its foundation as a Church School. The full report is attached below.
Daily Collective Worship
The whole school gathers together each day for worship and we encourage everyone to take an active part. As a Church of England Primary School our worship is based on Christian teachings, values and traditions. However, collective worship is conducted in a way that is sensitive to the individual faith and beliefs of all in our school community.
We encourage an atmosphere of calm reflection, enabling children to consider their achievements both in and out of school and the significance of living within a local and global Christian community.
Key events and stories from Christianity and the Church calendar are linked to our Christian Values which are, themselves, rooted in the Holy Bible. Time is also dedicated to reflect on current experiences and themes that influence and impact on the lives of our children.
Children are encouraged to have high levels of spiritual and moral reflection, ensuring that all are listened to and valued.
Choral Worship
Many of our children’s first experiences of music and singing will be through the worship songs that we sing in our Collective Worship. Music is used to promote an atmosphere of worship as children enter the hall for Collective worship.
Music is celebrated as one of the gifts that God gives to us. When children learn new hymns, they are supported in thinking about what they are singing about. Hymn singing is related to historical worship from the earliest days as recorded in the Bible.
Regular contact with the Rector of the Church of St.Mary with St.Gabriel, Binbrook
Father Patrick McEune comes in to school to lead or take part in Collective Worship and our children and wider school community attend services in the church. Currently this is being delivered remotely. Father Patrick represents the Church on our Governing Body along with two other Foundation Governors. Our children also participate in Church School events like the Church Schools Festival.
High Quality Religious Education
R.E. is provided in line with the legal requirements; that it reflects the fact that religious traditions in Great Britain are in the main Christian, while taking account of the teaching and practices of the other principal religious traditions represented in Great Britain. It is provided in accordance with the locally agreed syllabus for Lincolnshire LEA. It promotes pupils' spiritual, moral, social and cultural development, preparing them for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of adult life. Our R.E. lead teacher is currently training to use the "Understanding Christianity" resource. Subject knowledge is being cascaded to all staff so that from September 2020 the resource will be used to shape the teaching of Christianity within the framework of the L.A.S.
